Located in Hoedspruit, Moholoholo is a renowned wildlife rehabilitation and rescue center dedicated to caring for injured animals, displaced wildlife that has lost its habitat, and orphaned cubs. During a two-hour guided tour, visitors gain valuable insight into the center’s work and the animals they care for.
The tour begins with an informative presentation by one of the rangers, who will explain the vital role Moholoholo plays in rescuing wildlife and the devastating impact of poaching on both animals and ecosystems. You’ll also learn fascinating facts about Africa’s wildlife, their habitats, and behaviors. After the presentation, there’s time for questions before starting the guided walk through the center.
As you explore on foot, you'll pass enclosures housing various animals, including lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, and birds. If you're lucky, the rangers may demonstrate a cheetah running at full speed—an awe-inspiring sight! And keep an eye out for the world-famous honey badger, Stoffel, known for his clever and frequent escapes!
A visit to Moholoholo is highly recommended for families with children. The walking tour is easy, with short distances between enclosures, making it suitable for little ones. It’s a hands-on, educational, and fun experience where you and your children will learn a lot about wildlife conservation.
